Caledon East Orthodontics

Are your teeth straight? Are you concerned that your child's teeth are not growing in correctly?

Crooked teeth are unsightly and they are harder to clean properly. They can also put stress on your jaws if they are misaligned. Fortunately, orthodontic treatments to straighten teeth can benefit everyone, even adults. Typical orthodontic treatments involve the use of metal braces or plastic aligners to realign and reposition your teeth until they are straight.

With an in-house orthodontist, Log Home Dental offers orthodontic treatments, including Invisalign aligners, to Caledon East families.

Metal and clear braces

Metal braces are the traditional orthodontic treatment. Braces are attached to your teeth and adjusted so they slowly move your teeth into their new positions. You will normally wear braces for around two years, and during that time you will come in periodically to have them adjusted and checked.

After the 2-year treatment period, you may need to wear a retainer for a while to hold your teeth in place while they settle in their new positions.

Invisalign plastic aligners work in exactly the same way as braces, however instead of metal braces attached to your teeth, they use removable aligners that you wear over your teeth. The aligners can be removed while you eat or brush and floss.

Treatment with Invisalign usually takes two years, during which time you'll be provided with new aligners at two-week intervals. Each new set of aligners is slightly different than the one before it, allowing us to monitor and change the amount of correction you require.

As with braces, you may require a retainer after the treatment period.
